Assembly Supervisor

Role and Responsibilities

Accountable for providing support and removing barriers for Operations Team Leaders and Team Members to achieve manufacturing excellence.? Supports, trains, and coaches Team Leaders in all essential functions and skill sets that are required to resolve problems and continuously improve operational systems. Accountable for the performance of the Value Stream under their supervision. Directs and supervises daily production activities including manpower allocation and scheduling of production in assigned areas. Assists the Operations Manager in meeting all measured performance targets related to Safety, Quality, Productivity and Cost on a continuous basis.

NOTE:? This position is for the 2nd Shift.

Primary tasks

1.????? Integrity through fair and safe behavior and responsibility for personal health at all times.? Wears required PPE and is aware of all safety key points related to their work area. Ensures proper lockout/tag out procedures are followed.

2.????? Empowered to monitor the work environment for safe working conditions and safe behaviors by others. Takes action as necessary to maintain health and safety of others, provides direct feedback and resolves conflicts.

3.????? Accountable for manufacturing?results by communicating job expectations; planning production, monitoring operations, and appraising job performance and results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.

4.????? Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training and mentoring team leaders; creates opportunities for personal development and growth for all employees under their span of control.

5.????? Performs Team Leader roles in their absence.

6.????? Maintains work flow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; auditing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.?

7.????? Collects and reports production data;?trains Team Leaders to assist them?in scheduling and assigning personnel, accomplishing work results, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, revising rotation plans, resolving problems, and reporting production results on shift summaries.

8.????? Ensures operation of equipment by calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques.

9.????? Ensures Integrity of systems, including TPM, changeover readiness, and SMED adherence.

10.?? Provides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data; answering questions and responding to requests.

11.????? Maintains a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.

12.????? Resolves personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action.

13.????? Continual Learning of professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops/training sessions.

14.????? Development of effective staffing and resource deployment plans to meet production needs.? This includes daily personnel deployment in zones as well as training and skills development plans (cross training plans).? Such plans should take a long-term perspective to accommodate the personal development needs for capable individuals, absenteeism/vacations, anticipated staff transitions (e.g. retirements, transfers), and capability to flex resources for plant load and mix variations.?

15.????? Monitors the production environment and identification of abnormal and out-of-standard conditions to be followed by prompt implementation of countermeasures (both temporary and permanent).? This would be served by frequent plant walkthroughs, frequent audits of 5S and standardized work, careful attention to process- and team-level management boards, and good working relationships and open communication links with front line team members and team leaders.? The top priority is to take preventative actions that maintain worker safety, product quality, overall equipment effectiveness, productivity, and cost targets.? In particular (and in contrast to the Team Leader), the group leader will take particular interest in addressing system level impacts of these issues and on effective interfacing between operations in the value stream.

16.????? Maintains a clear understanding of all major process performance issues in their value stream through genchi genbutsu (first hand observation and probing investigation at the actual workplace until a deep and accurate understanding of the problem is established).?

17.????? Leadership in value-stream level operation of a lean Daily Management System (DMS) that is designed to communicate and coordinate production activities within and between teams; create early and full visibility of wastes, problems and concerns; develop and quickly and effectively implement countermeasures for these issues; to drive accountability for performance and ownership of problems through all levels of the organization; and to recognize improvement and effective problem solving by the team.?

18.????? Accountable for the DMS process including gathering and communication of status information (observations, audits, operational report generation or transmittal), diligent and timely updating of management boards at the value stream level in the War Room, and effective conduct of daily management meetings and plant walkthroughs.

19.????? Accountable for meeting and reporting all production KPIs pertaining to their working area.

20.?? Accountable for data entry into and accuracy of production reporting systems (CAPTOR, SAP, log books, etc.)

21.?? Personal leadership of structured problem solving efforts for select issues and problems.? These are issues that have significant (often system-level) impact and are challenging to resolve.? They are also responsible for requesting external support for the effort when appropriate.?? This includes immediate updating of action items lists as countermeasures are identified.

22.?? Accountable for problem solving activities (8Ds, 5 WHYs, etc.).

23.?? Holds Operations Team Leaders and all special problem solving teams accountable for problem solving efforts assigned to them, ensures issues are addressed at root cause level, solutions are practical and effective, and progress is rapid.?

24.?? Ensures that all open action items within the DMS are executed on a timely basis, holding team leaders and external resources accountable.? In particular, implementation of problem countermeasures should occur quickly, followed by confirmation of the effectiveness of the solution.

25.?? Develops, coaches and assures the effectiveness of each Team Leader under their span of control.

26.?? Performs Team Leader evaluations as scheduled while providing constructive feedback on an ongoing basis.

27.?? Performs Team Member evaluations as scheduled and seeks and considers input from their Operational Team Leaders in making those evaluations.

28.?? Has passion to identify opportunities for continuous improvement (CI) along with constructive support for internally- and externally-lead improvement initiatives.?

29.?? Observes and reinforces processes for the containment and control of non-conforming products.

30.?? Conducts assigned LPAs and other audits as defined in their Daily Standardized Work Routines.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

1.????? Associates+ degree preferred

2.????? Prior experience as a Team Leader within Gestamp preferred

3.????? Minimum 6 years of production experience in automotive industry

4.????? Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience preferred

5.????? Computer experience

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and abilities

Interprets and updates graphical trend charts; anticipates and troubleshoots personnel and process abnormities; conducts performance evaluations;? ability to work overtime as required; ability to update standard work forms; leads by example and demonstrates respect to others with a positive and supportive attitude; strong communication skills including written, verbal and listening; English language; and soft skill abilities.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
